How to Search the Business Recycling DirectoryThe Business Recycling Directory allows you to access a range of information about local and national reuse and recycling services from a range of service providers. To find information relevant to your area you can search the directory in a number of ways:
- Select Recycling Centres or Recycling Collections
You can choose to search the directory for recycling centres or recycling collections for your chosen area and material.
Some recycling centres accept materials for recycling if your business can deliver waste to the site. In some cases it is necessary to purchase a permit to allow you to do this. This information will be detailed within your search results.
If you do not have the means to deliver waste materials to a recycling centre, you can search for recycling collections that will uplift materials from your business premises, or a designated collection point, for recycling.
- Search by Local Authority Area
Select the local authority your business is situated in from the 'select local area' drop down menu.
If you are interested in what services are available in more than one area, you can use the 'advanced search' option. This allows you to select more than one local authority area.
To search all areas in Scotland, simply select each local authority area from the menu.
You can also choose to search for national collection services operating throughout Scotland using the advanced search tool. To do this, simply select 'National' from the local area(s) list.

Search by Postcode
Select the 'advanced search' option in the Business Recycling Directory.
The area covered by this search varies depending on how much of your postcode you enter. For example, for businesses in Stirling, entering 'FK8' will display results for Stirling only. You can also enter 'FK' to widen the search area and return a greater number of results.
- Select a Material
In addition to your area, you can also select the type of material that you want to recycle.
In the 'choose a material' section simply select your material from the drop down menu.
To search for more than one material, use the advanced search option. After choosing your area or postcode, click on the 'show materials' button and select each material you are looking to recycle from the list.
The results of your search are displayed and show basic information regarding the services available. This includes contact details of the company, what materials they accept for reuse or recycling and how these materials are collected.
When you have reviewed your search results, you may wish to contact some of the companies listed to find out more before setting up your recycling collection or service. For further information about setting up collections, you can view the 'How to Set Up Recycling Collections or Services' guide.
