Edinburgh Security Company LEEPs into Recycling"It's easy to recycle at work." That's the message from Rock Steady Group of Companies, who recently started workplace recycling with LEEP Recycling. That's the message from Rock Steady Group of Companies, who recently started workplace recycling with LEEP Recycling. Rock Steady, which provides crowd management and security for sports and other events, now regularly recycles paper, cardboard and ink cartridges through LEEP Recycling. The business has up to nine bags of recyclable materials ready for collection on a fortnightly basis. Managing Director of Rock Steady, Mark Hamilton, said: "Reducing what we use and recycling materials means we have more than halved our refuse going to landfill." LEEP Recycling, which is part of the sustainable development charity Changeworks, has joined forces with the City of Edinburgh Council to launch a recycling service for council trade waste customers. The service focuses on Small to Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) located in and around Edinburgh city centre. The trial is funded by WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) and is supported by Waste Aware Business, a national campaign that aims to raise awareness of business waste issues and provide information about landfill alternatives. Scotland's businesses currently produce around nine million tonnes of waste every year, compared to three million tonnes of household waste. By participating in this new scheme, local businesses can reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill sites and make significant cost savings as landfill tax continues to rise. Rock Steady's Mark Hamilton, added: "Recycling is not just a household issue. Businesses need to address the recycling issue too and help to protect the environment." Rebecca MacKinnon, Sales and Marketing Officer for LEEP Recycling, said: "LEEP Recycling is committed to reducing the amount of business waste going to landfill, and already provides a flexible service to over 1400 businesses in Edinburgh and the surrounding area. We strive to make it as easy, convenient and cost effective as possible for businesses to recycle their waste."
